Your excursion begins at the pier, where you will board comfortable, air-conditioned transportation. Accompanied by a knowledgeable guide, you will set off through the lush Nicaraguan landscape. Sit back and enjoy the verdant landscapes and unique countryside as you journey across this wondrous “Land of Lakes and Volcanoes”.

Step back in time as you arrive at the picturesque city of Granada, located in the shadow of the towering Mombacho Volcano on the shore of Lake Nicaragua (one of country’s largest freshwater lakes). Founded in 1524 by Spanish Conquistador Hernandez de Córdoba, Granada’s historic churches and convents have withstood the test of the centuries, including invasions by English, Dutch, and French pirates.

Disembark and enjoy a delightful and informative guided tour through the city, where you will admire the ornate cathedral and the ‘Central Park’, where the locals meet everyday day. You can also explore the city’s remote corners and see the colorful ‘casonas’, which are large, strikingly beautiful Spanish and colonial-style houses with large inner patios that give the city its nickname: ‘The Great Sultana’. Stop by Parque Central, the city’s social, cultural, and economic hub, where local artisans and vendors offer beautifully crafted products. Pop into some shops or simply relax as you take in this city’s timeless beauty and historic legacy. Before your free time, enjoy a folkloric presentation with local dancers in front of ‘La Casa de los Tres Mundos’.

Have your cameras ready as you journey back to your ship. You will be treated to a brief stop at the awe-inspiring La Virgen Crossing, which offers a breathtaking view of Maderas and Concepción—majestic twin volcanoes forming the island of Ometepe on Lake Nicaragua.
