Stroll along the narrow streets that dating back as far as the 15th century to Town Quay, where you will enjoy fantastic views of Polruan on the opposite shore. See the ‘Rook with a Book’ sculpture, created to celebrate the famous writer Daphne Du Maurier who lived in Fowey. The area was the inspiration and setting for her well-known novels Rebecca, My Cousin Rachel, and her short story, ‘The Birds’, famously adapted for film by Alfred Hitchcock.

Continue to Readymoney Cove onto the South West Coast Path, walking through woodland to the ruins of St Catherine’s Castle. Hear tales of pirates and privateers, individuals commissioned by governments to carry out quasi-military activities. They would sail in privately owned and armed ships, robbing merchant vessels and pillaging settlements belonging to rival countries.

Upon return to Fowey, enjoy free time to explore at your leisure before re-joining your guide and returning to Albert Quay and your awaiting tender.
