Saguenay - A Stroll in the Park

Majestically encased in the hollow of two mountain massifs, Fjord du Saguenay flows 96 km before emptying into the Saint-Laurent estuary.  It was shaped after glaciers deepened the valley allowing seawater to invade the newly carved inlet. The expanse of forest and marine environments creates astounding biodiversity whose beauty and richness will let you discover nature at its grandest and leave you with captivating and unforgettable moments.

Enjoy the beauty and tranquility of Saguenay National Park at a leisurely pace, beginning with a 60-minute scenic drive from the ship to the Parc National du Saguenay Interpretive Center.  

You will gain the knowledge of what created this fjord and how it was it shaped, and why the waters of the Saguenay river are so dark and salty. Learn about the sand dunes (or are they marine terraces?), and which species can be regularly observed in the park. You’ll also hear about the habits of the St. Lawrence’s beluga whales.

After this introduction to the park, join your guide for an easy one-hour stroll along the Meandres des Falaises trail and discover the Eternity River Delta. Then you will have time on your own to fully explore the Interpretative Center as it reveals the hidden mysteries of this exceptional ecosystem, or to shop in the gift boutique

During your stroll you will learn about the creation and characteristics of the Saguenay Fjord, whose magnificent topography was sculpted by glaciers 10 million years ago.
