Start your day with a scenic drive from Cheticamp over the most iconic sections of the Cape Breton Highlands National Park, climbing the dramatic coast of French Mountain, through the tamarack forest and the Aspy Valley to the oceanside village of White Point.

Starting in the small local fishing village of White Point and stretching out over an exposed coastal meadow, this trail offers a wonderful vista of the highlands and the sea.  The trail meanders close to the coast, over exposed granite outcrops and sheltered hollows.  As you trek to the point, you will learn about the local fisheries, unique coastal plants and a few of the many shipwreck stories from the area.  Enjoy a stop at the point for oatcakes and further tales of the sea. This trail offers excellent eagle viewing opportunities, as well as seabirds and seals. A dramatic headland cliff overlooks the rugged coast from the end of this level trail. Enjoy an eagle's view of the Cabot Trail as it winds its way down the mountain and vehicles look like toys. Watch for whales in the Gulf of St. Lawrence from the viewing decks. Moose, bald eagles, bears and numerous boreal birds live in this habitat.

After taking in the natural beauty of the Highlands firsthand, enjoy a relaxing drive back to the pier.
