Enjoy a 16 km catamaran ride with some viewpoints along the way. Enjoy a walk to the picturesque riverside market displaying local produce, stroll around the square and visit the museum.
  • Niebla Pier.

  • Catamaran sailing.

  • Maurice Van der Maele Historical and Anthropological Museum.

  • Valdivia – picturesque riverside market.

The excursion starts at the landing stage of Niebla, sailing up the Valdivia River in a catamaran for some 16 kilometers until reaching the city’s pier. On the way the catamaran passes by Mancera Island that was fortified by the Spaniards in 1645, today a summer residence, and by Gran Isla del Rey, the largest island on the Valdivia river. Once the Haverbeck Island it’s passed by, the old mansions and shipyards of the city can be seen.  Upon arrival at the Schuster pier in Valdivia, a walk is taken to the picturesque riverside market and its stalls with local fish, fruits, vegetables, and other regional products on display. The funny sea lions, which stay next to the Market while it is open, can be also seen waiting for some food.  Time is taken to stroll around up to the main square, some 3 blocks from pier. The modern Cathedral and its museum are in front of the square.

Walk across the bridge to the Maurice Van der Maele Historical and Anthropological Museum, housing a large collection of Mapuche artifacts and jewelry, as well as important pieces of the Hispanic and German periods. The German influence can be felt in every corner of this city. Board your bus to return to the pier.
