Surrounded by stunning mountains and fjords, you will be taken more than 1000 years back in time - visit the Vikings!
  • Spectacular landscape and viewpoints with plenty of photo opportunities.

  • Explore the local Viking history and visit the largest Viking longhouse ever found.

  • Step hundreds of years back in time as you visit the fishing village museum of Å.

Crossing three islands of ever-changing but always beautiful scenery, the first stop is a step back in time as you visit the fishing village museum of Å, and see how the Lofotenpeople have made their living for thousands of years. Walk between the old buildings and learn more about the history of the fishing industry, from small boats on the open sea making their catch of cod in spring, to preserving it as food for seasons to come. Afterwards you will travel across the Lofotenislands to the Lofotr Viking Museum, a site still surrounded by farmland, just as it was in the Viking Era. This lively museum features a reconstruction of the biggest Viking longhouse found anywhere in the world. The weapons in the longhouse are all replicas, so you can play Viking to your heart's content! Those of you less inclined to take up arms can admire the skill that has gone into recreating the world of a thousand plus years ago, or the skills still on display by the various craftspeople. The archaeological finds from the site are housed in a separate building where you will also find the souvenir shop, a café and other displays. Both on the way to and back from LofotrViking Museum,if time allows, wewill make stops for photos at scenic places such as Flakstad beach, where today surfers have started hanging out to enjoy the waves, or the local church.
