Welcome to the urban fishing village of Svolvær!  

Lofoten has a rich history, where the fisheries play a special and essential role.  

Discover the friendly fishing village of Svolvær at your own pace. Along the walking route there will be stationed guides at three different sites who will introduce you to the village and present short lectures on topics such as Lofoten’s fisheries, stockfish production and modern life. Lectures begin every 30 minutes and are each 10 minutes long. There will also be opportunities to ask questions after each lecture.

Practical information

  • Language: English.

  • Remarks/requirements: This is a self-guided walk with stationed guides at three different sites. Visit each site to hear a short lecture about Lofoten. Lectures begin every 30 minutes and are each 10 minutes long. Dress according to local weather conditions with good footwear. 

  • Walking information: Approx. 1 km to visit all three stations.

  • Wheelchair accessible: Yes.
