Greenland is a land of contrasts. Colossal icebergs calve from the inland ice sheet against a backdrop of green mountains, long fjords, beautiful wild flowers, and a variety of animal life such as sea mammals, game, birds, and fish. Still, the Greenlandic name of the world’s biggest island provides the best description of what Greenland is all about: ‘Kalaallit Nunaat’ - the ‘Land of the people’.
