On this expedition you get it all! You can explore the rainforest from a kayak, go snorkelling in the turquoise waters, visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites and paradise islands, cross an entire ocean and feel the heat from the Sahara Desert. Starting in Manaus, in the middle of the Amazon, we spend some time exploring the biodiversity and wildlife of the world's largest rainforest and river. Venture into the jungle and you might get to see birds, sloths, monkeys, butterflies, macaws, anacondas and maybe even a jaguar. The river is home to dolphins, manatees, otters, sharks, eels and piranhas.
From Paradise Islands to 'The Green Hell'
Arriving at the Cape Verde Islands will feel like a visit to a tropical paradise. Palm trees and endless white beaches, colonial houses and UNESCO World Heritage Sites is a wonderful backdrop if you want to explore or relax. As a contrast, we also visit the notorious Devil's Island. This prison island was the colony of the condemned. Hear the stories of famous and fictional prisoners who endured the harsh conditions here between 1852 and 1953.
As we cross the Atlantic Ocean, you will have time to relax or participate in the lectures or the onboard activities. We will then arrive in Africa, where Casablanca is the last port of call.
