Terms and conditions of our customer loyalty programme 1893 Ambassador

These are the rules you must agree to in order to become a member of our customer loyalty program.

1. Service Benefits and Discounts Advantages and services

  • 5% repeater discount on your next Explorer Voyage
  • 5% repeater discount off Norwegian Coastal voyages
  • 5% discount on selected excursions
  • 3 days free bicycle rental per Hurtigruten Norwegian Coastal Voyage (of minimum 6 days).
  • Applicable to brochure prices, early booking prices and group prices.
  • The repeater discount can only be combined with other special offers if this is specifically stated in the respective offers terms and conditions.
  • The 5% repeater discount applies to the voyage price only excluding flights, transfers and excursions
  • When combined with an early booking or other discount, the repeater discount is deducted from the early booking/offer price
  • Senior citizen discounts cannot be combined with the repeater discount.
  • Discounted excursions are only bookable on board
  • 5% repeater discount on Explorer Voyages (Antarctica, Greenland, Spitsbergen, Iceland, Atlantic coast)
  • Applicable to brochure prices, early booking prices and group prices
  • The repeater discount can only be combined with other special offers if this is specifically stated in the respective offers terms and conditions.
  • When combined with an early booking or other discount, the repeater discount is deducted from the early booking/offer price.
  • The 5% repeater discount is deducted from the price as advertised in the brochure. Pre/post and flight packages do not qualify for the repeater discount.
  • Complimentary gift in your cabin 

The 1893 Ambassador Member benefits will be provided if the member states their membership number at the time of booking and presents the card upon check in for their voyage. They are valid for cruises of at least three consecutive nights on board.

 2. Conditions 

Membership of the 1893 Ambassador Programme is available to the following customers who at the time of registration:

  • have travelled with us for at least 3 nights in a row on a previous single journey

  • are at least 18 years old

The membership is complimentary. Companies, societies, authorities and employees of Hurtigruten are excluded from becoming members.

3. Registration

Membership registration is made in writing, by submitting the application form from the 1893 Ambassador Programme registration brochure on board or online. Couples who share the same address only need to complete and submit one registration (in both of their names). To register, use the first and last name of the person named on the invoice from your last Hurtigruten voyage (for registrations by post or online after your trip) or the person named on the invoice of your current Hurtigruten Voyage (for registrations made on board during your trip). 

We will only issue one card per household. Members do not need to apply for a second card for fellow travellers. If you lose or damage your membership card, you can ask us for a free replacement card (see Item 10: “Contact”).

4. Membership Terms and Termination

We will send a membership card to you, within four to eight weeks after you have registered, at the postal address you provide. The membership card confirms your membership. Your membership begins as soon as you, the registered member, receive your membership card in the post. This applies to most countries of residence. If you should reside in a country where cards are not sent to, you will receive a confirmation e-mail that provides you with your membership ID instead.

Your membership and entitlement to associated advantages and services automatically expire if you do not complete another Hurtigruten cruise of at least three nights, within five years of the date that you become an 1893 Ambassador member.

We will automatically extend your membership for another five years if you complete another Hurtigruten voyage of a minimum of 3 consecutive nights. 

You may end your membership in the program at any time, without notice. You will need to do so by writing to your local Hurtigruten contact at the office address shown below (see Item 10 “Contact”). 

Hurtigruten may close the 1893 Ambassador Programme at any time, with 3 months' notice. We may give this required notice by publishing it in the member’s newsletters, or on our internet homepage. The right to extraordinary termination is not affected by this.

Hurtigruten can terminate your membership without notice and without providing reasons, if you have violated the conditions of entry. 

5. Transferability and Scope

You cannot transfer your membership and the associated benefits and services to anyone else. The repeater discount as part of the 1893 Ambassador Programme only applies to the cardholder named on the membership card and a companion(s) who travel(s) in the same cabin. The 5% discount on selected excursions booked on board Norwegian Coastal Voyages and the free bicycle hire (see Item 1) applies to the cardholder and a maximum of one travelling companion.

6. Validity

Your membership begins as soon as you receive your membership card in the post. Hurtigruten has the right to change the entry conditions, terms and content of the 1893 Ambassador Programme, at any time. 

7. Liability

Our liability for services of the 1893 Ambassador Programme is based on the cruise contract for the member on board. You are not entitled to an equivalent amount in cash, if we happen to fail to provide or use a service of the 1893 Ambassador Programme.

8. Data Protection Declaration

We cannot grant you membership in the program, if you do not provide us with your name, address, e-mail address and date of birth, at the time of application. As a member of this program, you accept that Hurtigruten will store your personal data and use it to manage its own database of members, as well as for its own communication purposes.

Hurtigruten will not pass on your personal information to third parties. However, we may give your address data to the mail-order companies who organise the mailing campaigns for our own information material. These mail-order companies are not allowed to pass on your data to any other company or person.

9. Cancellation Instructions

You can, at any time, choose to have your personal data removed after registering for the 1893 Ambassador Programme. You can also stop us from sending promotional direct mail or emails to you, even if you have previously asked to receive them from us. See Item 10: “Contact”
