Viking Ruins

This is where the Vikings used to live. Come and see the Norse exhibition and the ruins in Dyrnæs Valley.

Viking Ruins - See How the Vikings Lived

Archaeologists believe that during his first visit to Greenland in 982 Erik the Red spent the winter on the island of Illutalik not far from Narsaq.

Throughout the area there is a lot of evidence of the presence of the Norse settlers.

Narsaq

In Narsaq itself a large farm estate has been excavated including houses, stables, storehouses and in ”Dyrnæs Valley” just outside the town a farm and church have also been excavated.

We visit the Norse exhibition in the local culture house and the ruins in Dyrnæs Valley.
