Experience the rich birdlife in beautiful Breidarfjörður.
The Snæfellsnes peninsula is one of the most enchanting in Iceland with the Snæfellsjökull glacier rising majestically on the tip of it. We drive directly to the picturesque located Stykkisholmur, fishing village. Here we will take part in a boat trip on Breiðafjörður Bay. On this tour we look at rich birdlife in Breidarfjörður, characteristic rock formations and other characteristic of the countless island and skerries. Birds nesting and breeding in the cliffs can be observed from within a few yards distance. Bird species that can certainly be watched are puffins, cormorants, shags, black guillemots, kittiwakes, fulmars and several gull species. Sometimes seals and white-tailed eagle can be seen. The high point of the trip is when we set out our net-plough and fish on the bottom of the ocean. When the net is brought in, passengers have a chance to taste the newly caught shellfish and sample the delicacy of sea-urchin-roe, as well as other seafood. After the boat refreshing boat trip, we will have lunch at a local restaurant. Return to Stykkisholmur in the afternoon.
